Here are my three favorite to use link building strategies:
1) Blog XML feed, this can be used in forums and almost any site you have an account, it will show your most recent blog post with a link back to that site
2) Relevant Blog commenting: sites like wordpress allow users to have a website with their username.  You simply make a relevant quality blog comment with your backlink
3) Relevant Forum posting: Find forums in your website niche and create do follow signatures to your website, this will create some traffic as well as SEO for your site.

Forum posting is a very effective method for link building.  I can add one more to your list.  It is article marketing.  Backlinks may be procured through article marketing as well.

I am applying almost all seo techniques for increasing back links for my site. But I preferred Forum posting and Article submission due to its effectiveness.
