I always hear of people paying others to include their site links in forum signatures. It seems like a popular way of building links but does google and other search engines really take these types of links seriously. I mean they're not really proper backlinks but people do pay for them, so should i also be looking to build up links from forums by purchasing sigs.

Stats and real life examples would be helpful ?

Most forum sigs are rel="nofollow" so they won't really pass link juice, the few that do, well I think googles smart enough to figure out that these links aren't the best in terms of quality. However you maywell get traffic if your sig links are on a related forum to your niche.... That would help a little i guess.

They can do if they're relevant to your niche and rel="nofollow". I personally don't use them that much, but i guess for forum promotion I would.

A lot of people still pay to have their signatures posted on different forums. They can be extremely useful for link juice if you post them on relevant forums. Not only will it help you will it help you get some targeted traffic (if not much). But will help you optimize the website better.

People still pay a lot of money to have their sig posted in forums and if the forum is related to your website then it can be very useful for yoy otherwise  I don't think so.

Building links through forum signatures can be a strategy some people employ to improve their website's search engine rankings. However, it's important to note that the value of these types of links is generally considered low by search engines like Google. While there may be instances where paid forum signature links could have a small impact on rankings, it is generally not an effective long-term strategy for building high-quality backlinks.

Major search engines like Google prioritize the quality and relevance of backlinks. Forum signature links are often seen as spammy because they are not typically earned naturally through quality content or genuine online engagement. Search engines have become more sophisticated in detecting and devaluing such tactics over time, making it less likely for these types of links to positively impact search rankings.

Instead of focusing on purchasing forum signature links, it is advisable to invest efforts in creating high-quality content and building genuine relationships with other websites. This can lead to natural and earned backlinks that are much more valuable and considered trust-worthy by search engines.

Real-life examples and statistics specific to the impact of purchased forum signature links may be difficult to find. However, there are numerous case studies and industry reports available that highlight the importance of organic, high-quality backlinks in improving search engine rankings. These sources consistently emphasize the significance of building links through legitimate means rather than resorting to tactics like purchasing forum signature links.

insights regarding forum signature links and their impact on search engine rankings:

1. Quality vs. Quantity: Search engines like Google place a greater emphasis on the quality of backlinks rather than the sheer quantity of them. A few high-quality, relevant backlinks from reputable websites carry more weight than numerous low-quality forum signature links.

2. Relevance and Authority: Search engines consider the relevance and authority of the linking website when assessing the value of a backlink. Paid forum signature links often come from low-quality, unrelated websites, which can harm your website's credibility in the eyes of search engines.

3. User Engagement and Trust: Search engines increasingly prioritize user engagement metrics, such as click-through rates and bounce rates, when evaluating search rankings. Forum signature links are not known for generating substantial user engagement, and search engines may not give them much weight in their algorithms.

4. Penalties and Devaluations: Search engines continuously update their algorithms to combat spammy link-building practices. Participating in paid forum signature link schemes could potentially result in penalties or devaluations that have a negative impact on your website's search rankings.

5. Natural Link Building: Instead of purchasing forum signature links, focus on creating valuable content that naturally attracts backlinks. Building relationships with other website owners and engaging in genuine online communities can lead to authentic backlinks that are more likely to positively influence your search rankings.

points to consider:

1. User Intent and Conversion: While forum signature links may not have a significant impact on search engine rankings, they can still drive targeted traffic to your website if placed strategically in relevant forums. The key is to focus on forums where your target audience actively participates, ensuring that the links are seen by users with a genuine interest in your content or products/services.

2. Brand Visibility and Reputation: Participating in forums and contributing valuable insights or solutions can help build your brand's visibility and reputation within the community. This can indirectly lead to opportunities for natural, high-quality backlinks from other websites that value your expertise.

3. Nofollow vs. Dofollow Links: Many forum platforms automatically add a "nofollow" attribute to signature links, indicating to search engines that the link should not pass ranking value. While these links may not directly influence search rankings, they can still generate referral traffic and contribute to a diverse link profile.

4. Community Engagement: Participating in forums can offer additional benefits beyond link building. Engaging with the community can help you stay up-to-date with industry trends, gain insights from other experts, and build relationships with potential collaborators or customers.

5. Link Building Diversity: It's important to diversify your link building strategies. Relying solely on forum signature links or any single tactic can be risky. Consider incorporating other legitimate methods such as guest blogging, influencer outreach, content marketing, and social media engagement to maximize the impact of your link building efforts.

As I know it is not very helpful.

Yeah I agree, we are here as a community! We learn, we share!

Link juice from a high PR blog or forum is good for your blog to boost your Google page rank. Specially, if you are active in a niche forum which allows dofollow backlinks, you will not only get a quality link to your site but you will also be getting targeted traffic.  8)
