guys does academia.edu really give dofollow contextual links?

Hello guys
I have heard a lot of people mentioning academia.edu and educause.edu as a good source to build some edu links in the forn of pages papers and bio.
But none of then tells if these links are dofollow or nofollow.
So are these links dofollow or nofollow and are they as effective as the hype?
