whCMS is a content management system which relies on in-page editing. This means, no separate administration section is present to edit site content. Simple content modules, such as headers, text or file downloads are added, sorted and edited directly in the website pages. whCMS was originally developed by Buro Laga and now released to the public as open source software under the GPL licence. As from August 2008, whCMS is discontinued and no longer being maintained. Cambio is the successor of whCMS.
Technical
whCMS uses PHP as its scripting engine and MySQL as its database engine. The output is compliant with the XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.0 web standards. It uses HTML, JavaScript and CSS compression and caching. Also, accessibility standards of the Dutch government[1] are used as a guide for generating accessible output.
Features
whCMS main feature is the in-page editing capability, with ordering by drag & drop of content modules. A number of different content modules are installed by default, but new modules as well as templates can be created by the site administrator. A translation engine makes it possible to present content in multiple language. English and Dutch are supported by default.
